Summer in Lake Tahoe just got hot...

Recent college grad Cali Morgan thinks she has her life all figured out, until she returns to Lake Tahoe and runs into an old crush she barely recognizes. A serious accident pushed Jaeger’s life in a new direction, but he’s hotter than ever, his presence rocking the foundation Cali staked her future on.

"Jules Barnard deftly avoids NA cliches, delivering fresh settings, realistic characters and smart writing that will have readers eagerly awaiting her next release." ~ Lauren Layne, USA Today Bestseller

"Loved the fun, flirty tone, and the Lake Tahoe setting was perfect escapism." ~ Lia Riley, Author of Off the Map Series

“Engaging characters and a fascinating background setting…” Library Journal

When Cali Morgan kicks off her perfect post-college summer in Lake Tahoe, she has everything she ever wanted: acceptance into a top law program, a gorgeous boyfriend, and an incredible summer planned with her best friend.

Confident about her place in the world, Cali makes it her mission to be her friend’s wingwoman and help her meet guys. What Cali doesn’t count on is running into Jaeger Lang, one of her older brother’s high school friends, or the sparks that fly when she’s around him.

Jaeger has changed, and it’s not just the added height and muscle. There’s something about him that’s deep and a little scarred. In spite of the changes, Jaeger becomes a top pick for her friend—if Cali can keep her hands off him.

But when Cali’s boyfriend dumps her and her carefully laid plans begin to unravel, she finds herself questioning what it is she truly desires. In the midst of doubts about her future, one thing is very clear: she wants Jaeger for her own. The question is, has her friend already fallen for him? And will Jaeger’s past come back to haunt them both?

Each book in the Blue Series is a standalone and does not need to be read in order, but characters pop up again so it's fun to read them sequentially.

Cali Morgan is spending her summer in Lake Tahoe working at the blue casino before she goes off to school for her masters. Cali is a smart girl and even though she is talented in her art, she simply thinks of her drawings as doodles and throws most of them away. She has always planned on Harvard Law and nothing is going to deter her from her path.

Then she meets Jaeger and she is blown away. Cali has a boyfriend but things are rocky with him and Cali can not stop thinking about this incredibly kind and gorgeous specimen. Then her boyfriend just up and breaks up with her and she feels embarrassed and wronged. She then decides that it is just too soon to start up anything else. However, her heart says something much different.

Jaeger is a down to earth type. He goes fishing, works with his hands and pretty much tells it like it is. He is one of those "Knights" that ride in to save the day. He ends up saving Cali more times than he can count and doesn't seem to mind in the least. He is drawn to her and just can't figure out why she keeps pushing him away.

I loved this story. The story flowed really well and the author did an incredible job with the setting and character development. These characters were complex and likable right from the beginning. I felt than Cali could have been a friend of mine. She was sweet, funny and seemed to really have her head together. The author really set the scene in Tahoe and since I've been before, I had no problem picturing some of the settings she spoke of. Over all this was a fun, romantic read that was just perfect for the beach, or any person who loves contemporary romances, as much as this girl does.

Genevieve Tierney moves to Lake Tahoe after college, determined to go it alone after being betrayed by her boyfriend. Working at a casino and avoiding cheating jerks seems like a good plan, until she meets the one guy tempting enough to drag her back down.

Lewis Sallee is six and a half feet of perfectly sculpted mountain man who threatens Gen’s play-it-safe approach and awakens a sex drive she never knew she had. Although Lewis is in a complicated relationship with one of the most beautiful women Gen has ever seen, she can’t seem to control her attraction to him.

To boost her confidence, Gen steps out of her comfort zone and signs up for the Alpine Mudder, a gritty endurance race. But as she prepares for the biggest physical challenge of her life, her emotional strength is pushed to its limits after she accepts Lewis’s help in training. He tests her willpower and has her fighting her body’s response to him—with her mind and heart not far behind.

Blue Crush is the 2nd book in the Blue Series. Each book in the Blue Series is a standalone and does not need to be read in order, but characters pop up again so it's fun to read them sequentially.

"Why does the one person who makes me feel anything have a girlfriend--or a not-a-girlfriend Whatever. Why is he so complicated?"

Gen is Cali's best friend in this second Blue book series by Jules Barnard. The first book in this series focused on Cali and Jaeger and how they found their way to each other. This second book is focused on Genevieve or Gen what everyone calls her. Gen is gun shy when it comes to men, because she feels like she always picks the wrong ones. They are either jerks, taken or they just don't fit her description of what she wants.

Gen is working a summer job before grad school in Lake Tahoe and living with her best friend Cali and Cali's mooching brother Tyler in a beach house. She is a cocktail waitress at the Blue Casino. Gen comes off as a sweetheart, but very shy. She finds it hard to open up to others because of her past and her family life. Ever since her boyfriend played her by having a girlfriend at home, Gen has learned to keep a distance from all male species in general to protect herself.

In walks Lewis.... Although Gen finds out that Lewis is taken or otherwise engaged with Mira the girl that Gen can't stand on sight, Gen can't seem to stop the instant attraction she feels. Things get worse when Lewis does just about everything to get near her. But why? If he has a girlfriend, why can't he just leave her alone? Gen tries her best to stay away from Lewis but circumstances seem to push them together. Gen feels like she just can't fall for another guy who can't be hers.

Just like the first book int his series, the romance was clean, honest and so completely well written that I had a hard time ever putting this one down. I believe I ended up finishing it at 2am one morning. Jules really knows how to grab her readers and WOW them with her characters and attention to detail in her story lines.

I'm already on to the final book in this trilogy. I just love all the characters in these books. Such a perfect summer read. These books can each be read in one sitting while sipping a margarita by the beach

Mira Frasier has worked hard to pull herself out of the darkness of her Tahoe reservation childhood, but rough beginnings shape a person in all the wrong ways. Mira gets mixed up with shady people while trying to bail out her destitute mother—and now Mira’s life is in danger.

Tyler Morgan grew up a star athlete and scholar, but a tragedy he hasn’t dealt with has him regrouping in his home town of South Lake Tahoe. The last person he expects to see is Mira, the girl he lost his virginity to in high school, and the only woman who ever took a piece of his heart. He’d rather live in a tent than do what his sister asks and stay with Mira while they figure out how to keep her safe from the men who attacked her.

To ensure Mira remains in his past where she belongs, Tyler agrees to look out for her temporarily until she’s safe enough to move out on her own. And if he has to push that process along by snooping around and figuring out what she’s hiding, he’ll do that too. Only, Mira is still beautiful, and she’s feisty as hell, and she has all his attention—just like she did six years before.

Mira is driving Tyler crazy, the tension between them off the charts while they’re trapped under the same roof. Something is going to crack. Will it be Mira’s last hold on a haunted life, or Tyler’s self-control around the one girl he’s never been able to get over?

True Blue is the 3rd book in the Blue Series. Each book in the Blue Series is a standalone and does not need to be read in order, but characters pop up again so it's fun to read them sequentially.

This series keeps getting better and the author just continues to prove herself over and over again. She has quickly moved on to my favorites shelf. I have to say that Mira and Tyler’s story is my favorite of the series so far. I am a sucker for a good second chance romance and this book is exactly what I love! It is full of passion, miscommunication, and true healing.

Tyler and Mira are two lost souls looking for something;unknown to them it is each other. They knew each other back in junior high and high school. Mira was head over heels in crush with Tyler and vice versa. When Mira finally decides to make a move, it is a moment neither can possibly forget but rumors and silence creates a rift that is seemingly impossible to overcome. Fast forward 6 years later and their paths have crossed again, only this time, they have both changed so much from the people they used to be. Mira is in trouble. She has chosen her mother over her own self preservation and landed herself in debt, living in fear and looking over her shoulder. Her issues catch up with her and she is physically beaten by some thugs. When the search ensues, Tyler becomes her reluctant rescuer. After much debate, it is decided that Mira will move into the “Chalet” with Tyler and Cali will be living with Jaeger. From a safety stand point it is better than Mira returning home alone, but it is the last thing Tyler and Mira want. No one knows what happened to them 6 years ago.

As they live together, they are constantly on high alert and hyper aware of each other. When Mira finally breaks down and tells Tyler everything about her present day situation, Tyler decides that he will help her with everything so that he can get her out and on with his life. Little does he know that he will be intertwining his life with hers so deeply that there is no possible escape without irrevocable damage to anything they could possibly have or ever will be.

Jules Barnard out did herself in this novel. I was literally blown away by this series finale. The only thing this reviewer has to say is GIVE ME MORE!

About the author:

Before turning to storytelling, Jules earned a master's degree in public health and spent many an hour running statistical analysis--until she realized her favorite part of the job was writing reports. She decided to cut out the math and add in some hot guys, and so began her career as a novelist.

Jules is a Northern California native living on the coast with her husband and two children. She has no impulse control around cupcakes and credits herself with the ability to read while running on the treadmill or burning dinner.
